Howard do we see how business often works and we are a little bit skeptical also tell us how people can be good to their employees and in return get something back from them. Well the first thing you have to do is give your employees as human beings not such. It's great players CEOs say people are great offensive I think boy they don't get it. Because people and I ask that you own assets silly computers contracts. Yeah give you what you expected terms trapped in the morning because it can obviously starts. But when people come in the morning to working now whether they've had a problem one of the kids are sick or. Maybe like a kid is just got Oxford scholarship for four years Manger got to listen and you got to think about damage human beings first thing I gave you what you expect. And how did this work for you in your leadership role with the Starbucks can you may be cite some times when you. A worked closely with employees and they really did show you their best because of the way you treated them. I think they only hit I think that when you treat people with respect and dignity and you care about them in Asia actually show them that you love them. Which is a war that we don't think we used up and up and doesn't. Then they reciprocate. Yeah or trust. You know our relationship began financial trust whether it's at all with your kids with his significant other your spouse or somebody at work consult. You have to get dressed before you get trust. So it when I first street firms and actually went back. Mostly temporary and that the ban a couple of years and I think that was that had been sent from the previous president of North America and hands me the creeps started reporting to me. There's people empathy card he is a wonderful guy I knew that he cared but he did not show it and I remember it. I mean with them every day talking about something that I mean it's definitely been. And finally if people started coming to me and saying you know pat this guy's terrible line I think that he talked some about it. And of course they should not punishable up about it we talked about it and see if we can't fix it. And so eventually did in every person to get that up a little code word with this guy and say. In every time you're feeling your feelings are hurt if you could just say this code word to them maybe you remind him to lighten up a little bit and it started doing that. And the relationships change because all of a sudden they were intent with each other of other things per game built to cut back at least he was aware when he wasn't doing the right thing. Do you employers worried though that. There they're trust might be. Breached or that somebody might try to take advantage of that trust. If they show it to them I mean how it worked in business because we see it so often that people are lured in over their employees and playing the heavy. Because are they they're afraid that someone may take advantage of their good nature. I am an that it calendar conflict that left we should let the wind continuous play for Hulk the complete circle. So if you're a person that's just trust open your going to be distrustful there's a fan at all. But if you wanna help feel mentally healthy and productive organization. That you have to give track. That doesn't mean I want somebody break stressed that you don't hold them accountable of course should do. Bet if you give tranche first demand and then you get trust back and that's what the name of the game as she can't worry about somebody's taken advantage of you know what I'm well wait a little. They can't live like this at your personal life and it certainly can't live like in your opinion doesn't apply if that doesn't serve anybody. I do believe that fifteen dollars as a right number. And they are conscious effort Siskel and maybe even in my hometown Seattle. But try to put up fifteen dollar minimum wage throughout the whole country's going to let them tackle Mississippi with. Where they wages declining during the year the sentence he would be tanks somebody making a subway sand lecture. To make a couple copy thirty grand a year. The problem they all of that story isn't making thirty grand a year felt if we have to be Smart about these things one size doesn't at all. I'm more that we used to have a mean you know without that then the playing field not level but trying to. Spread across the whole country a little. To make it so wildly successful. I think he treated people. Is is ferocious about. I believe is treated everybody with respect and dignity that you gave everybody trust before you he's got trust. You say you're rewarded people for their work but you also held them accountable you forgave them when they made mistakes. And the aura stewardship of the organization and so. I didn't do it by myself now. Is always a believer kinda turn meant that we want him a copy doesn't serving people that we are in a people business serving copy and it felt like a small play on words. But it it was a big differentiator anti tank I'm proud of leaving that behind. I don't believe you need to do that I think if you lock and you can be undercover most people never knew me anyway. So you know you can why can't see bit. Try to make up on people I mean it. Well it's because it was this kind of a compilation of my life and people I've met along the way hand. I thought that the best way to get people to relate to what I was trying to teach them what to tell the story and you know the magic cup came from that story and I think pickup came from the idea that. What you put the right. Is it output and yourself you can't see yourself as a cup which you put into your life is what you get out of it so if you put caring and honesty and love. Spent here cup. And it felt the size and it overflows that he could granted blind ambition and your cup and it shrinks in size and damp piece. And so you want to have a selling line of fire alive with happiness and polite with respect and dignity than have to put good things in here cup.
